About you and your will

A memorandum of wishes sits beside your will. It explains your wishes to your executor and family, but it does not change your will or Faraid.

Funeral and religious wishes

Care of my family

Your hopes for the people who depend on you. Leave anything blank that doesn't apply.

How I hope my heirs use their inheritance

Faraid decides each heir's share. Here you can only express hopes about how they use it. Use words like "I hope" or "I request", not "give" or "must".

Personal and sentimental items

Who you hope receives items of personal meaning. Under Faraid these still count towards an heir's share, unless all heirs agree after your death.

Documents, accounts and contacts

Help your executor find everything. Do not write passwords or full account numbers here.

Debts and informal arrangements

Debts must be settled before Faraid. Listing informal ones helps your executor; they may still need proof.

A personal message

Optional. Some people use this to share advice, forgive and ask forgiveness, or explain their choices.

Review and download

Keep this memorandum with your will and tell your executor where it is. Review it every few years or after major life events. It does not need witnesses.
